Registration open for Absolute Beginner German course

Sign up now, classes due to start on 25 August! This beginner course is for absolute beginner students who have no prior knowledge of German. This is a short course (5 sessions). The follow up course in Term 4 will be a full length course (10 sessions).

Join us for our monthly Kaffeeklatsch on 29 August 2026 at 1:30PM at Das Zentrum! WHO WE ARE

Das Zentrum, the Australian-German Institute Inc., is a non-profit community organisation incorporated under the Australian Capital Territory Associations Incorporation Act.

Das Zentrum was founded in 1997 following the Goethe Institute’s withdrawal from Canberra.

Since its opening, Das Zentrum has continued to add to the unique collection of German language material donated by the Goethe Institute and to make it available to our members and to the general public.

We offer adult German language classes in the ACT with qualified teachers in a friendly environment.

Join Our Language Courses

Our Language Courses for adults are open to members of Das Zentrum. You must be or become a member to be able to join a class.

Our classes are run by qualified and experienced language teachers and focus on language skills, communication and culture.

We keep class sizes small (between 10 and 16 students) which gives everyone plenty of opportunity to actively participate. Classes are held in our library in Das Zentrum, Griffin Centre, Genge Street, Canberra. Our language classes are a lot of fun - why not join us?
