The German Markets in Canberra offer a range of stalls with German food and drinks, handmade goods, preserves and plants. A great opportunity for a fun day out! Federkiel Download Join Our Language Courses Our Language Courses for adults are open to members of Das Zentrum. You must be or become a member to be able to join a class. Our classes are run by qualified and experienced language teachers and focus on language skills, communication and culture. We keep class sizes small (between 10 and 16 students) which gives everyone plenty of opportunity to actively participate. Canberra German Movie Club at Das Zentrum Join us for regular German movie screenings in Canberra! Would you like to watch German movies in a relaxed community setting? Do you want to find out about German movies shown in cinemas in and around Canberra? You have come to the right place! We host movie screenings at Das Zentrum and we also work with other organisations that bring German cinema to audiences in Canberra. Please register if you wish to come along to one of our movie nights. Most of the movie events at Das Zentrum are free of charge, but places are limited. Please note that some new additions to the library may not yet appear in our online catalogue, so it is always worth checking in the library for new books as well. The easiest way to search for titles or authors is to use the search function on your computer (command + F on Mac; Ctrl + F on windows), which allows to search this website. Das Zentrum Australian-German Institute Inc., is a non-profit community organisation that offers German language classes and events to bring the German speaking community together. Who we are Das Zentrum, the Australian-German Institute Inc., is a non-profit community organisation incorporated under the Australian Capital Territory Associations Incorporation Act. Das Zentrum was founded in 1997 following the Goethe Institute’s withdrawal from Canberra. Since its opening, Das Zentrum has continued to add to the unique collection of German language material donated by the Goethe Institute and to make it available to our members and to the general public. What we do Das Zentrum seeks to forge a link between Australia and the German-speaking regions of Europe by: maintaining an extensive library of books and DVDs in German and in English subscribing to several German-language magazines offering German language classes taught by fully qualified teachers who are native German speakers at beginners, and intermediate levels offering more relaxed conversation groups for those who want to maintain their fluency showing German-speaking films (mostly with English subtitles) arranging lectures by guest speakers and offering other presentations producing a regular bilingual magazine to keep our membership informed of our activities providing, above all, a meeting place for all people interested in the language and culture of the German-speaking areas of the world.
