Beethoven’s Piano Trio in D, the ‘Ghost’, and Ravel’s stormy Piano Trio form the dramatic core of a national tour bringing together three champions of chamber music for a serendipitous moment.
Australian pianist and storyteller Aura Go has worked with Finnish/Australian-based cellist Timo-Veikko (Tipi) Valve for many years, performing nationally and internationally as a duo. She’s also toured extensively with virtuoso Australian violinist Kristian Winther. Now the stars have aligned for Musica Viva Australia to present these three artists on one stage.
Beethoven’s ‘Ghost’ Trio is a cornerstone of the piano trio repertoire, an imaginative work which pits heroic bravura alongside spooky beauty to make a dramatic whole. Ravel’s piano trio, meanwhile, is anchored in real life, a profound response to the First World War. A glowing…
