Yes, Canberra German Week is Back! Celebrate Canberra German Week, 17-25 October 2025, with a range of activities. Registrations for ticketed events open early October. - Term 4 Language Classes
Registration is now OPEN for booking! We will be offering an A 1.1/2 and an A.2/2 class in Term 4. Students from our Term 3 A 1.2/3 and A 2.2 classes will have the opportunity to join our planned A 2 respectively B 1 classes in Term 1, 2026. We are pleased to welcome German author Sybille Lindt, who will read from her latest work "Großmutter kam aus Thlokerhauland". The reading will be in German. Date and time: 03 Nov 2025, 5:00 pm – 6:30 pm at Das Zentrum. Registration required! Über die Autorin : Sybille B. Lindt (Autorin, Übersetzerin, Fotografin) ist 1948 in Neuhardenberg/ Land Brandenburg geboren und wuchs in einer Kleinstadt im Osten der Mark Brandenburg auf. Studienjahre in Leipzig, lebte sie zwanzig Jahre in Berlin und heute in Köln. Berufe: Bibliothekarin, Kunsthistorikerin, Kultur-Journalistin ("Der Morgen", "Bulletin Jugend und Literatur", u. a.), Lit.-Übersetzerin (aus dem Schwedischen), Fotografin (Billie Collage Cologne), Autorin: Schreibt Kurzprosa, Reiseliteratur, Lyrik und Kinderbücher, veröffentlicht seit Anfang der 90 er Jahre. - Kaffeeklatsch & Lesestunde 25 October 2025
Our October Kaffeeklatsch will be on 25 October from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm! For parents with young children, we also offer a 30 minute Lesestunde (German Story Time) just before Kaffeeklatsch, from 1:00 pm to 1:30 pm. Join us for Kaffee (oder Tee) und Kuchen (coffee (or tee) and cake) and a nice chat in German at Das Zentrum on the last Saturday of each month at 1pm! This event is free but a gold coin donation would be appreciated! This is a regular monthly event for both native speakers and learners of German to enjoy speaking German in a relaxed atmosphere. The library will be open at the same time, so this will be a great chance to borrow one of our many German books! Looking forward to seeing you there.

Our library is open on Wednesdays and Thursdays between 3:30 PM and 5:30 PM (subject to volunteer availability). Come along to borrow books or magazines, have a chat with one of our volunteers and find out more about Das Zentrum! Please note: The library is staffed by volunteers only, and while we make every effort to open at these times, we cannot guarantee that there is always someone available on these dates. If you travel from further afield, it is a good idea to confirm we are open. Our phone number is (02) 6230 0441.
